Knowing she’s on her deathbed, Ashley Trainer has only one wish: to hope others learn from her negative example. Ashley has a habit that has made her sick and will soon kill her.
She does not smoke, does not drink, does not use drugs, eats very healthy and leads an active life. The problem is what she likes to do in her spare time to improve her appearance. Ashley became addicted to tanning beds and now has terminally malignant melanoma.
Here’s what she admits: “I used to say I don’t care if I die from tanning, as long as I die from tanning. I’ve always said that, but I don’t believe it anymore.”
When Ashley turned 33, she finally realized that the decades of her tanning days had finally put a lid on her. She was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma and has been treated for years. She is now 40 and the cancer has spread throughout her body.
The lesson she learned is, in her own words, “I paid money to get where I am today.”
