A boy named Collin and his parents, Stephanie and Dillon, went through moments of nightmare. Collin was a perfectly normal and healthy child, cheerful and full of energy.

Every day he played with his brother and discovered new things, the two were inseparable. But one day, while playing with his brother, Collin fell and hit his head. Immediately after he fell, the boy got up and continued to play, as if nothing had happened.

Seeing that their son was feeling well, his parents did not worry about the blow to the head. In the evening, the parents put Collin to bed and wished him “good night”, but over the night the child’s health began to change suddenly.

The next morning Collin could not move, he was paralyzed from the neck down, moreover, the little one could not swallow and had trouble breathing. Collin could not eat, not even swallow water.

His parents were shocked when they saw him and rushed him to the hospital, believing that all these terrible symptoms were due to the blow to the head.
Arriving at the hospital, the doctors did an x-ray of his head and found that he did not have a brain wound, but still, the child’s health was deteriorating. Doctors warned the parents that the boy could have a cardiac arrest at any time.

Overwhelmed by the situation, the doctors transferred Collin to a children’s hospital in a larger city. There, a team of neurologists and infectious disease specialists carefully examined Collin. They found a tick behind the child’s ear.

After they removed it, Collin began to regain his balance, and gradually all the symptoms he had began to disappear.

Dr. Travis Stork, who dealt with the child’s case, explained that tick bites are quite common, and their saliva triggers a reaction in the human body that causes paralysis: “Neurotoxin exists in their salivary glands, so while the tick it feeds, this paralyzing neurotoxin enters the bloodstream, causing what we call ascending paralysis, which starts in the legs and causes the patient to become unable to move at all. Usually, just three minutes after the tick is removed, the symptoms begin to go away. ”

Now Collin has fully recovered and things are back to normal, but parents will never forget the scare they went through with their child.
