A 14-year-old gave birth to her baby in a restaurant bathroom, then took her baby to a customer.
The distraught teenager left the restaurant and gave the baby to a stranger with the umbilical cord still attached.
Most of these women became pregnant early. An unwanted pregnancy can be emotionally and psychologically draining for a woman, and although abortion is legal in most areas, it is still considered taboo. That is why many mothers continue to have their children.
After the birth of the baby, the young mother faces a new challenge.
Taking care of and raising a child is a difficult task. In addition to diapers, milk and regular checkups, it can get very expensive. For this reason, we should not pass judgment if a mother abandons her child at birth.
A 14-year-old girl was in the same situation, but alarmingly abandoned her child.
According to Frankie Aguilar, owner of restaurant Albatron, this woman entered the restaurant on Wednesday afternoon with a newborn baby. She looked sad and asked for help from customers and staff.
She announced to the pioneers that she had “discovered the newborn.”
The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached and appeared to be having trouble breathing. Alice Scott, a client trained in CPR, asked the mother if she could monitor the baby’s vital signs.
The mom handed over the kid right away, and as soon as all eyes were on her, she walked out of the restaurant.
The restaurant staff was alarmed by the scenario and requested assistance from the authorities.
In a matter of minutes, help arrived in the form of the police, who arrived with an oxygen tank and other medical supplies. They put the oxygen mask on the baby, which provided immediate relief. The infant cried, moved, and opened and closed his or her eyes. The baby began to suckle the mask, indicating that he or she was hungry.
Walter Cocca, Alease’s boyfriend, filmed this with his camera and the security cameras on the camera.
Alease told 6abc Philadelphia that all she cared about was being in the right location at the right time. She was relieved that she was able to assist and that the baby was unharmed.
Authorities apprehended the 14-year-old girl and held her for a brief time.
To make sure she was okay, they took her to Jersey City Medical Hospital. She was not charged, and the newborn child was placed for adoption.
In addition, the state reminded residents of its Safe Haven Law.
This law allows parents to waive their parental rights to their newborn children and place them in designated safe institutions. Hospitals, police stations, and fire stations are the most common. The law was enacted so that parents might leave their babies in safer environments rather than locations where they might be in danger.
The parent relinquishes all parental rights to the child under this law.
The child can then be taken to a shelter, where he or she will be placed in foster care or adopted. The mother’s identity would be unknown, and the only record linking her to the kid would be a number or code put on the infant’s hospital band.
