Ever since cell phones were first introduced to the public, numerous of people around the globe seem to always want to get their hands on the newest model. Every year, a handful of this type of devices are released in the market, and it seems that people are becoming more and more obsessed with them, as if they couldn’t go a day without them.

A recent study that was conducted by a group of French scientists revealed that if people use their cell phones for more than 30 minutes every day for a period of five years, they might be at risk of attaining serious health matters in the long run, such as brain cancer.
These scientists also discovered that those individuals who spend 15 hours talking on their cell phones every month might be subject to glioma and meningioma, which are the two most common brain tumors in the world.

After knowing this information, a couple of French scholars at the University of Bordeaux and other similar institutions decided to carry out the research across the nation. Their findings were also published in the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Journal.
Their research focused on two groups: tumor patients and a control group. In the first group, 263 patients were suffering from glioma, while in the second group, which was composed of 194 individuals, were patients suffering from meningioma. They were compared to the 892 healthy people who were part of the control group.

When compared to the control room, the results of their comparison showed that those individuals who constantly use their cell phones are 2.9 and 2.57 times more likely to be at risk of suffering from meningioma and glioma. People who use their mobiles more than 15 hours each month for a period of 2 to 10 years are at greater risk of suffering fromthese types ofhealth matters.

This research was strongly criticized by many individuals for its inability to show any type of linkage between the use of cell phones and the development of brain problems. One research team member, Isabella Baldi, tried to calm the critics down by notifying them that their study was only part of the trend and that their discoveries are yet subject to confirmation.

Over the years, there have been numerous of studies regarding this matter, whichhave had different results, such as the one conducted by the International Agency for Research on Cancer which revealed that the radio frequency in mobile phones could cause cancer, and the interphone study that was conducted in 2010, which did not agree that cell phones could lead to brain tumors.
